usefulness of the University in this respect
have accordingly aroused His Majesty's
Government's keen interest and sympathy.
For my part I appreciate the importance of
maintaining the original aims of the University
which are emphasized in the Committee's report,
and I would take this opportunity of placing
on record my firm belief that the institution
can be developed to serve the best interests
of Sino-British relations in the future, and
should receive all the support and assistance
possible in order to do so.

Government fatty realize that the maintenance
of the University's aim and its development for
the purpose of meeting modern conditions in
